Constables Mobility - leading the way again
Constables Mobility is the world's first company to enter into a Multi-Stage Build Agreement with Peugeot and in effect become a partner of the international car manufacturer and supplier. It is a culmination of years of hard work in the industry and a determined desire to be at the forefront of design and technology that has led to this achievement and the start of a professional relationship within the realms of wheelchair accessible vehicle solutions. Coincidentally, 20 years earlier another world first was obtained when Carchair became the first specially designed and adapted wheelchair to be crash tested for use in a vehicle.

The initial vehicle range to be included in the Multi-Stage Build Agreement between Constables Mobility and Peugeot is the Tepee - an attractive and versatile MPV. With unique access to technical data, engineering drawings and vehicle prototypes, Constables Mobility has been able to study and understand the design, development and build of the Tepee prior to finalising the specification of their rear access Openroad wheelchair solution. Limiting any alteration to the original production line vehicle and working with Peugeot’s actual data has resulted in a wheelchair accessible vehicle that has been created and tested to optimum standards of safety, functionality and durability. A precedent has now been set for the future.

20 years previously, on 30th October 1987 to be precise, Carchair became
the world's first wheelchair to be crash tested. This revolutionary idea of transforming a fully functional wheelchair into a comfortable and safe car seat has continued to be developed and produced over the years to become one of the most popular solutions on the market for upfront non-transfer wheelchair travel. One of the unique selling points of Carchair is its ease of use and the fact that the wheels are retracted beneath the seat and do not need to be stowed separately within the vehicle.

With advances in scientific data and technological procedures, Constables Mobility continues to lead the way in the design and manufacturer of wheelchair accessible vehicle solutions.
