If I buy a vehicle of my choice, can you convert it?
We can convert a wide range of vehicles. However, it is important that you contact us for an assessment before you commit to buying a vehicle. One type of Constables conversion may be more appropriate for your needs than another, and not all vehicles are suitable for conversion - so please contact us for advice before you buy.

Can I have a free demonstration?
Certainly! In fact, before buying one of our products we would insist that you try them out for yourself with one of our trained members of staff. We will then be able to assess your needs and make appropriate recommendations. Distance no object - we demonstrate to all locations in the United Kingdom.

Carchair can be fitted to a suitable 3-door car and a range of 5-door MPV's (multi purpose vehicles - people carriers). Please contact us for buying advice.

In rear access vehicles, what is the advantage of lowering the floor?

Are we limited to our choice of vehicle colour on the Motability scheme?
Constables offer metallic paint as standard.
What happens if I have a warranty claim? Are both the vehicle and the conversion covered under warranty?
All Constable conversions are covered by a separate warranty. Should you need to make a warranty claim against the base vehicle itself, this would be covered under the vehicle manufacturer's warranty as normal.

What do I do about servicing my Carchair system?

We recommend that customers have their Carchair and lift system serviced annually. We have a number of service agents throughout the country, or can arrange for the service to be carried out at our factory. Please contact us for details.

Can I travel in the front seat of a vehicle if I am a wheelchair user?
Systems such as the Constables Carchair system allow wheelchairs safe, simple access to the front of the vehicle.

Which safety standards do converted vehicles have to conform to?
Incredibly, there are none, however always look for a converter that is accredited with Motability and the Vehicle Certification Agency with Low Volume type Approval (LVTA) on at least some of their vehicles. Ensure they have the ISO 9001:2000 quality accreditation.

Is it possible to buy used vehicles that have been converted?
Converted used vehicles are available. Reputable converters will ensure that the vehicle has been comprehensively checked and refurbished where necessary.
